Hearing His Voice #73

Hearing His Voice #73

We understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16

Many a Christian has searched for knowledge that he or she has already had. Many of us have cried out to receive guidance and wisdom from God, not realizing that the mind of Christ is already operating in us and filling us with the wisdom we need. We often know the right decision to make, but we have talked ourselves out of it by our own biases and logic. We do not trust the mind within us because we seem to have several minds.

Nevertheless, we have the mind of Christ. Yes, there may be other voices speaking to us, but we already have His wisdom. We are not told that we can have it if we believe, that we will have it when we have become holy, or that we might have it if we have read God’s Word. No, we have been joined together with Christ by faith and are one with Him. We already have the Spirit of God and the mind of Jesus living and breathing within us. He is there. We only need to access Him.

We don’t access the mind of Christ by study. There’s a place for study, but it isn’t the means of revelation. Neither do we access it by asking for advice, though God can speak through the counsel of others. We access His mind by faith—by believing that His wisdom is given to us and by praying until we have an internal “knowing” that can’t be swayed. “I just know” won’t satisfy many skeptics, but we aren’t listening to God in order to satisfy skeptics. We’re listening in order to hear. And according to New Testament truth, the mind of the one who speaks is already within us.

Trust the wisdom you have been given. Listen to the deep knowledge at the core of your spirit. Rely on Jesus, who inhabits your heart.

Jesus, thank You for Your mind—for sharing Your thoughts with me. Let my mind be filled with Your nature, and give me understanding of Your ways.
