Hearing His Voice #231
Hearing His Voice #231
The voice said to [Ezekiel], “Son of man, eat what I am giving you—eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he fed me the scroll. . . . And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
Ezekiel 3:1-3
FROM THE HEART OF GOD
“My words were written on scrolls, but they are more than ink on parchment. They are alive and powerful, always accomplishing their purpose and expressing My heart. They aren’t simply vehicles of communication; they are vessels of My Spirit. To embrace My words the way they were intended is to embrace Me.
“When I speak to you, I want My words to become part of who you are. Ingest them. Digest them. Become one with them. Don’t let them go in one ear and out the other. Don’t treat them simply as commands or suggestions or instructions. If you see them as requirements, they will affect only your behavior. But if you see them as food, they will change your nature. As you’re fond of saying, you are what you eat. When you eat My words, you become one with Me.
“My words are difficult to obey, but they are easy to digest. I never intended for them to remain external, where you would have to follow them without having a heart equipped to do so. My desire is for them to sink so deeply into your spirit that you can fulfill them simply by acting naturally. That’s why I gave you a changed nature and put My Spirit within you—so My voice would find a home in your heart. The words that were once bitter on the outside are now sweet when you’ve consumed them. Savor them well.”
Living Word, is this why following Your voice has always been so hard? Put Your truth in me; let me consume with my mouth whatever comes out of Yours. And help me embody Your voice and speak to others the words that come straight from Your heart.
