Hearing His Voice #224

I am sending you to say to [the nation of Israel], “This is what the Sovereign LORD says!” And whether they listen or refuse to listen—for remember, they are rebels—at least they will know they have had a prophet among them.

Ezekiel 2:4-5

FROM THE HEART OF GOD

“I am the living Word. I speak. I cannot be silent. Even though the Bible is complete, My sheep still need to hear My voice and know My guidance in specific situations. My church is full of well-intentioned teachers who falsely declare that no one can claim to have heard My voice with certainty. Even My own people wonder if it’s presumptuous to say I’ve spoken to them, in spite of My many instructions to listen to and declare My words. I am not silent, yet to many of My people, I might as well be. They have ruled out the possibility of hearing My voice and telling others what I’ve said.

“It isn’t presumptuous to be a prophetic voice if I’ve told you to be one. It’s only presumptuous if I haven’t actually spoken to you. I’m not asking you to write Scripture, as the prophets of old were inspired to do. I’m asking you to be in sync with My heartbeat and represent Me to the world. I’m sending you to portray My ways and My purposes to the people around you. I’m expecting you to embody My nature and declare what you hear My Spirit saying. I intend to maintain a voice in this world, and for many hearers, you’re it.

“Does this frighten you? It shouldn’t. It should frighten you more to neglect My calling. You should have a sacred awe of the task, but My love casts out all fear. I will speak clearly to those who are willing to declare what they have heard. Get in touch with My heartbeat, and I will send you on a mission to demonstrate it.”

Sovereign Lord, were your words to Ezekiel really for us, too? Your Spirit fills all of us who believe, not just a select few, so it must be true. Give me words to say, feelings to portray, and thoughts to convey. Fill me with the heart of Your mission.
