Your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind.

Isaiah 58:8

FROM THE HEART OF GOD

“You’ve waited for resolution to the problems in your life and for the fulfillment of your deep longings. You’ve sought My will on these matters, and I’ve given you some direction on them. But your focus on the things that pertain to you has blinded you to some of the other things I’ve been saying. If you will widen the range of your hearing—and follow the instructions that don’t apply specifically to what you’re focusing on right now—the solutions and fulfillments will come. When you learn the art of focusing your prayers and activities on other people’s needs rather than your own, you’ll look back and discover that I’m giving unusual help to the things that concern you. Getting your attention off of your needs draws My attention to them.

“Sometimes you look to Me for answers while I’m looking back at you for answers. Both of us are asking, ‘Why don’t you do something?’ When you respond to what I’ve told you, I’ll respond to what you’ve asked Me. That doesn’t mean I’m waiting for your perfection, of course. I’m waiting for the leaning of your heart to change. Turn your steps in the right direction and I’ll quicken your steps and come running toward you.

“This is one of the hardest practices for you to develop, but it’s one that prompts Me to bring your salvation like the dawn. Like a watchman waiting for the morning, you’ve looked for My help. I can assure you that help will come, but not because you’re obsessing about your longings. It’s because you’ve paid attention to Mine. I will demonstrate My power toward those who demonstrate their love for Me.”

Lord, I desperately long for my salvation to come like the dawn. I have gaping wounds and screaming needs that demand to be healed and resolved. Give me a heart for the world at large, but please rebuild my small corner of it.
