Attention To Details
Attention to Details
Some people go through life enjoying all the little details around them. They saunter through situations and often stop to smell the roses. Others go through life in a whirlwind of activity. These people often miss the finer nuances of their surroundings. To these people, life can seem like a blur. They might miss the beauty around them as they get lost in an ocean of distractions.
What kind of person are you? There’s no right or wrong answer.
The “smell the roses” people are important to our world because they love digging into details. These people carefully inspect things to make sure products are precisely crafted and safe. They also might discover scientific breakthroughs, because they explore every aspect of their experiments. These people are often the storytellers who spend countless hours writing books, crafting props, or building scenery for movies.
The hard-charging go-getters are often leaders. They run companies, build businesses, or lead nations. They get an idea and go for it. Their passion helps their dreams come to life, often overcoming difficulties with a get-’er-done attitude.
The cool part about God is that he embodies both characteristics. We can see his incredible attention to detail in the Scriptures. For example, he lists generations of families to show precisely how key figures in biblical history are related to each other and fulfill prophecy. He demonstrates that he’s a God of order, not a God of random chaos, in the way plants, animals, and natural systems work. But God also gets things done. He judges nations, overturns kings and other leaders, and demonstrates his power on many occasions.
No matter what kind of person you are, you can count on God to understand your thoughts and actions every day. You can use your strengths to glorify him.
Daddy-Daughter Time
Talk about the similarities or differences you and your dad have regarding attention to detail. Sometimes people notice detail but don’t think or work with great detail. That’s okay . . . we’re all made differently.
Think about some of the littlest details you see in the life of Jesus. He said even the tiniest details of God’s law would be around until their purposes were achieved (see Matthew 5:18). That shows God’s into details and getting things accomplished.
What’s The Word?
[Jesus said,] “I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.” Matthew 5:17-18
