Experiencing God's Presence #302
Experiencing God's Presence #302
He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
Colossians 1:28, NIV
God revealed His truth to Israel and told them to keep His words in their hearts. “Repeat them again and again to your children,” He urged. “Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up” (Deuteronomy 6:7). In other words, His voice was meant to resonate deep in the souls of His people throughout the generations. They were to teach in a way that kept His Presence in view.
We can do that easily in our churches, instructing people toward spiritual maturity. But a crying need of our generation is for a widespread impartation of God’s wisdom. How can we get the Presence into the intellectual discussions of our day? Into schools and universities? When we remember that our presence is a vehicle for His Presence, the answer is simple. We go there. God’s desire is to display Himself through His people. We carry Him into learning institutions and into discussions through our attitudes, prayers, and communion with Him. We season our words with the salt of His truth, even when overt references to our faith aren’t accepted. We aren’t limited by biases and restrictions. We have the limitless God within us; wherever we are, there He is.
Do you want to impact a generation for the Kingdom? Be the Presence of God in whatever schools you attend, influence, or even drive by. Engage in public discourse with the attitude of Jesus and a heart of compassion. Offer up prayers in the Spirit for the wisdom of God to fill the culture. There’s no limit to the ways you can infiltrate society with the Presence that dwells within you.
Spirit, fill me with wisdom from above. Fill our schools, educators, and students with insights and revelation. Let Your Kingdom come—on earth as it is in heaven—even through people who don’t know the source.
