Experiencing God's Presence #28
Experiencing God's Presence #28
We are the temple of the living God.
2 Corinthians 6:16
When Moses built the Tabernacle and Solomon built the Temple, the glory of God filled those holy places so dramatically that observers were in awe and could hardly function or even stand up straight. In places that were dedicated to Him, set apart for His dwelling, cleansed from anything that represented impurity, and anointed with symbols of His Presence and power, He came. He wanted to dwell with His people.
He still does, and the relationship is much more intimate now. He doesn’t just dwell with His people, He dwells in us. Most of us know that—in our heads. But what does that look like at a heart level? With what level of awareness do we live in that truth each day? How conscious are we of the Presence? That we have to keep reminding ourselves that the Spirit lives within us is revealing. We need to find a way to instinctively and naturally let the Presence flow out of us. And in order to do that, we need to be filled and saturated to the point of overflowing.
Try this exercise: Sit with your eyes closed and imagine the Spirit blowing around you like a gentle breeze. As He swirls up, over, and around, touching every inch of you, imagine the intensity of the wind increasing. Let it grow stronger. Then envision the rushing wind blowing through you—penetrating your skin and swirling up and around inside of you. As He does, picture every corner of your body, soul, and spirit being cleansed. You are glowing from within, smoldering with the glory of God. That glory will intensify, flowing up and out of you when needed. Savor that awareness as long as you can. It’s a true picture. Let it sink in. Then live fully aware of this power at work within you.
Spirit, rush through me, cleanse me, blow the dirt and dust out of every corner, and fill me with Your glory. Let me live according to this truth.
