I am the LORD who heals you.

Exodus 15:26

My young son lay in bed asleep—seemingly at peace. But I knew the traumas he had experienced that day and the words that had pierced his heart. They were the kinds of wounds that all of us receive every day. We become battered, bruised souls that learn to survive. But simply surviving doesn’t seem ideal, especially for your own children. So I prayed for healing. More than that, I declared Jesus’ Presence in the place of every trauma and wound.

Jesus demonstrated on earth that all sickness and infirmity must bow before His Presence. He clearly didn’t heal everyone in the land—there were plenty of people left over for the disciples to heal after His ascension, even in places where Jesus had passed before—but according to the report of the Gospels, He did heal everyone who came to Him and asked. In His Presence, wounds and diseases are healed.

When we become carriers of God’s Presence, we can speak words of healing too. We can impart His Presence into all kinds of wounds, including the deep emotional traumas that stick with us for a lifetime. The God who comforts (2 Corinthians 1:4) wants to be present in our pain, not just to walk us through it but to heal us from it. His desire is to touch, to soothe, to heal. His processes can be slow, but His work is thorough. He heals completely.

Receive the healing that comes with the Lord’s Presence. Let Him touch every raw wound and lingering scar. But also speak His Presence into the wounded places of others—words that comfort and heal with kindness and mercy. Pray for His touch and, wherever possible, be the one who gives it. The Lord who heals is still reaching out—to us and through us.

Lord, I have needed Your healing so often, and I still do. Please speak Your restoration into all my wounds, and give me wisdom and words to speak Your Presence into the wounds of others.
