Experiencing God's Presence #219

Experiencing God's Presence #219

The house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door.

Mark 2:2

Jesus has a magnetic personality. When He walked this earth, people flocked to Him—partly because of the powerful things He could do, but also because of their fascination with Him personally. He was intriguing, surprising, and friendly to many, even those who had few friends. People wanted to be around Him.

People still do. Well, those who have an accurate perception of who He is want to be with Him. Some try to stay far away from Him because they misperceive Him, thinking Him to be cold or pious or a figure only of the past. But when we see Him rightly, we are drawn. Considering that we were made for Jesus (Colossians 1:16), it only makes sense that we would be attracted to Him. We have longings planted within us that can be filled only in Him. The way our hearts ache for fulfillment is all about our need for the ultimate relationship.

A taste of Jesus’ Presence doesn’t satisfy us; it only whets our appetite. Those who think God is boring haven’t actually spent much time with Him. When we sit with Him and sense His nearness, we want more. And according to His purpose in making us, so does He.

Choose to be one of the people drawn to Jesus simply because of a desire to be with Him. Say yes to every aspect of the relationship. Spend some time today cultivating closeness. He will find a way to answer, and there is always room in His Presence now.

Jesus, if You were in a nearby house today, I would be in the crowd trying to see You. I have needs that only You can meet, and I also have desires that only You can satisfy. Most of all, I want Your personal touch. Please let me feel it today.
