Experiencing God's Presence #186

God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.

1 Thessalonians 5:24

Paul urged the Thessalonians to live a “blameless” life and, anticipating their sense of futility over such a suggestion, gave them a key to much of the Christian life: “God will make this happen.” In any faith endeavor, we need to know this. The God who called us to live in impossibilities will accomplish what He has designed us to do and be.

In our quest for a sense of God’s Presence, for becoming a God-carrier in our world, or for any other over-our-head pursuit, we don’t have to fear being in over our heads. We always want to know “how,” but it’s a faith-killing, self-focused question. We look for step-by-step instructions, the key to make it happen, but that’s the wrong approach. We ask; He answers. How does He accomplish it? We don’t know. We don’t have to. The One who called us is faithful, and He will make it happen.

Don’t overanalyze this pursuit of God’s Presence or any other faith adventure. Just ask to experience Him more, to become sensitive to His voice and His touch, to be an effective vessel filled with Him. When you do that, it becomes His responsibility to get you from point A to point B. The request may seem monumental to you, but you are essentially taking this monumental impossibility from your hands and putting it in His. He will accomplish it. You may not even notice it happening; one day you’ll look back and realize how much progress has been made, but you still may have no idea how. The goal is not for you to learn principles for spiritual success; it’s for you to trust Him to do what only He can do. And, according to His Word, He will.

Father, I’m trusting You for the process. I’m believing that You will get me where I need to go, to do the impossible in my life. All you ask me to do is dream big, pray big, and watch You work.
