Experiencing God's Presence #109

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.

Psalm 19:1

“Lord, let me see Your beauty,” I asked. His response was clear: “I’m already showing it to you. I show you My tenderness all the time, but you don’t recognize it because you’re too suspicious of Me. I give you favors, and you think they are random circumstances or smaller blessings than they really are. I reveal My generosity toward you, but your fear causes you to think each step forward is a setup for failure or hardship. I reveal My heart, and you don’t know how to interpret it.”

We encounter God and hear His voice much more than we think we do. Creation is constantly pouring forth knowledge of Him, yet we wonder if we hear well. He assures us He is sovereign over all our circumstances, yet we marvel at “coincidences.” He fills our lives with joys, yet we hold them tightly because we fear losing them. Our insecurities and doubts blind us to the beauty He constantly unveils.

God has designed creation, our circumstances, our relationships, and even our own hearts to reflect Him and speak of His goodness and beauty. Sure, we have to sift through some unbeautiful appearances to see Him, but the revelation is there. The problem is that we’ve trained ourselves to interpret things naturally, randomly, and impersonally. Our senses have been dulled to His overtures.

Awaken them. Open your eyes to every divine gesture. If you think He might be speaking to you, He probably is. If you’ve asked to see His beauty and His glory, the evidence of beauty and glory that follows isn’t by chance; it’s from Him. Accept the gift of His reminders that He is there.

Lord, I choose to see the signs of Your heart for what they are—not to dismiss them or assume they are coincidences. I accept the ways creation, my circumstances, my relationships, and even my own heart speak of You.
