Wonderfully Made

Wonderfully Made

Read 1 Timothy 4:4-10

Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it. We may receive it gladly, with thankful hearts. 1 Timothy 4:4

A psychological study in 1995 found that three minutes spent looking at models in a fashion magazine caused 70 percent of women to feel depressed, guilty, and shameful.

I have had friends put their lives at risk to be a little thinner. The mountains of lawsuits against ephedrine products show how desperate people are to feel better about their bodies. What does God say about the way you were made?

  • God created you, and he saw what he was making! “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.” (Psalm 139:14-16, NIV)
  • God formed you, and he says you bring him glory. “Bring my sons from afar and my daughters . . . everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Isaiah 43:6-7, NIV)
  • God formed you and set you apart. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” (Jeremiah 1:5, NIV)

What can you do today to help you believe what God has said about you? Do you need to make a three-by-five card and memorize these verses? Do you want to write the truth on your mirror? Want to record the truth on a CD and play it as you walk? Find a way to remind yourself today how very precious you are to God.
