Saved For Something
Saved for Something
Read 1 Timothy 2:1-7
This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4
Walter and Matilda had an epic love story! He felt called to missions, and his father disowned him when he left the family business to follow God’s call. He went to America ahead of his wife and children. He booked passage for his family on the safest vessel of the day, the Titanic. However, Matilda missed her husband so desperately that she changed the travel arrangements. The family set sail two weeks earlier than expected on a different ship!
Walter and Matilda’s daughter, Helen, just a child herself, couldn’t help but notice the providence of God as she heard the newspaper boy shout, “Extra! Extra! Titanic Sinks!” Matilda’s love for her husband helped save her family. Helen felt God’s hand of providence on her life. She was saved for a reason. As a teen she began Vacation Bible Schools in rural communities. Then she went on to marry and founded Christian Business Women’s Clubs, which helped fund pastors for rural churches. Then small group Bible studies formed all across the nation.
This ministry, Stonecroft Ministries, has more than sixteen hundred local representatives, and more than fourteen thousand people are involved in various forms of leadership. In Friendship Bible Coffees alone, there are more than thirty-six hundred involved in leadership.
The hand of providence has been on you, too. Reflect on this question: What have you been saved from? Repeating the pattern of your parents? A tragic accident?
God saved you for a purpose greater than yourself.
