Mark It!
Mark It!
Read Joshua 4:15-24
He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God. Joshua 4:24, NIV
As a way to mark growth in your life, you may want to create a tangible remembrance. The book of Joshua tells the story of the Israelites crossing the Jordan into the Promised Land. As a remembrance of all he had done, God told them to choose twelve men, one from each tribe, to take twelve stones from the Jordan River.
Then Joshua called them together and told them, “Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. He said to the Israelites, ‘In the future when your descendants ask their fathers, “What do these stones mean?” tell them, “Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.” For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over’ ” (Joshua 4:20-23, NIV).
One idea for a tangible marker is to make a memory stone by pouring a small block of cement, like a stepping-stone, and add symbols of God’s blessing. Create a path with stepping-stones in a garden. You can add a new one each year, or each family member can create a stone for the year in which you create the garden path.
By creating a tangible marker, a visible legacy is formed. The visible legacy can comfort you during difficult times.
