Time For A Change?
Time for a Change?
Read Hebrews 10:19-25
Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24
All Ken could do was blame Ann for their marital problems. Indeed, she had been difficult to live with and had grown distant over the past few years. But Ken made the situation worse with his constant correcting and demanding that she be more responsive to his needs. They constantly accused one another, and they even began talking to their children about who would live with whom after the divorce.
In the midst of this turbulent time, Ken went golfing with his best friend, Dave. Throughout the first two holes, Ken complained about Ann.
By the third hole, Dave had heard enough. He grabbed Ken by the arm, kneeled at the bench by the tee, and prayed: “Lord, we claim this marriage for you. Humble Ken and show him that he is as much the problem as Ann. Open Ann’s heart to see the value of this relationship. Do whatever you need to do to help them take back their marriage.”
When he had finished praying, Dave turned to Ken and said, “Okay, now you pray.” Then he bowed his head and waited.
Ken struggled to get out even a few words, but he prayed: “Lord, I guess Dave’s right. Help us.”
Ken was amazed that Dave would do something like that for him and his family. It made a difference too. Ken left the golf course with a different perspective. His heart had been turned around, and he was ready to do whatever it would take to heal his marriage.
When we humble ourselves, seek God, and ask him to change our hearts, he is willing to do wonders in our lives. Are you willing?
God, help me to humble myself so that you can do amazing things in and around my life.
