Request A Shower From God

Request a Shower from God

Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:22

When my son Micah was four, he did not like it when I took showers because he could not be with me. He complained each morning and sat outside the bathroom door waiting for me and calling, “Are you done yet?”

One morning as I headed to the bathroom, he asked, “Why do you have to take showers anyway?”

I responded, “We take showers to stay clean and smell nice.”

He seemed satisfied with that answer. He lay down on the floor outside the bathroom, pushing a Hot Wheels car in and out under the bathroom door while he waited. After my shower, Micah and I went on with our day, and I completely forgot about the morning’s exchange.

That evening at bedtime, we finished our story, and then he prayed, “Dear God, thank you for today. Thank you for all my things. Please help Mommy to stay clean and smell nice. Amen.”

Ah, yes, there is more than one way to solve a problem, and there is nothing like going straight to the source for answers. We were created by God, so surely he can keep us clean. Even though physical life does not work quite that way, I had to admire Micah’s sincere heart and how he fully trusted God with his problem. I only hope I can be half as relaxed in my relationship with God as Micah is in his relationship with the Creator.

Dear God, I pray that you will help me to come into your presence with a sincere heart, fully trusting in you. Help me to remember that I can bring all my problems to you because you care for me. Amen.
