JUGGLING A SOCCER BALL takes supreme concentration and skill. Using all parts of your body (except your arms and hands) to keep the ball from touching the ground is a key skill in the most popular sport in the world.

But some people aren’t satisfied with juggling a soccer ball. They’re looking for a greater challenge. Sweden’s Tomas Lundman is one of those athletes. He takes the phrase “Now that’s using your head” to a new extreme.

According to Guinness World Records, Lundman holds the record for bouncing a tennis ball on his head. He set the mark at the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm, Sweden, at the end of December 2002. Eyes looking up, back arched, and feet wide, Lundman used only his head to constantly juggle a tennis ball for 60 minutes. While that sounds impressive—and nearly impossible—he beat Luis Silva’s old record by only seven seconds.

POINT The human head is amazing. Experts say the average head weighs about eight pounds. Inside the skull, the brain runs the entire body . . . and we don’t even need to think about it! Not only is the human head a medical marvel, it also comes in handy in sports. Whether they’re thinking through a situation or heading the ball to a teammate, athletes often use their head.

Nobody could argue that Tomas Lundman has a nifty noggin. His heading skills are world famous. The Bible also talks about a famous head: Jesus Christ. God’s Son is the head of the church. Jesus laid down God’s law while he was alive, demonstrated how to live for God, and died and rose from the dead so we could join him in heaven. Now that’s truly using his head!
