Sowing To Righteousness
Sowing To Righteousness
Read Proverbs 22
Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.
Proverbs 22:9
When God called Abraham to leave his home and family and to set off as a wanderer, he made a great promise to Abraham: “I will make you into a great nation. . . . All the families on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:1-3). Abraham was blessed to be a blessing to all the families of the earth. In the same way, God continues to bless his people so that they can be blessings to others. God shows us his goodness and blessing—not for our own selfish fulfillment, but so that we can be channels of blessing to those in need.
The wonder is that God chooses to use us, imperfect and sinful as we are, to bless those around us. “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop” (2 Corinthians 9:6). The measure of our generosity is the degree to which we give to those who cannot give in return.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Look for ways to give to others.
Today, Lord, thank you for your great blessings in my life. Teach me to be generous, to be a blessing to others. Give me an opportunity to give to those who are in need. Grant me compassion to reflect your love as I do so.
