Priority In Creation

Read Proverbs 8

[Wisdom says,] “The LORD formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else.”

Proverbs 8:22

Why would it matter that the first thing formed in all Creation was wisdom? Before God began to create the physical items—earth, stars, moon, animals, fish, plants, and planets—God decided on a way, an approach, he would use in Creation. That way was wisdom. Creation didn’t result from a random, miscellaneous approach to building an intricate system. God may have created instantly, but he didn’t create haphazardly!

We’ve discovered that even what appears to be in chaos in the universe exhibits order at some level. Wisdom shouts from the organization, intricacy, balance, and wonder of Creation. God decided, by using wisdom, that every molecule of Creation would give evidence of its Creator. This is why the psalmist was stating a profound truth when he wrote, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship” (Psalm 19:1).

Today, Lord, teach me to see myself and those around me as incredibly precious, made for your glory, and created through wisdom.
