Read Proverbs 27

As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.

Proverbs 27:19

Science has discovered a new way of looking at things. There is a mirror on the market that provides the most accurate reflection yet. Instead of gazing upon a reversed image seen in a typical mirror, this new technological advancement allows people to see themselves the same way the rest of the world does. People who have used it claim to prefer the new image. This “true reflection” makes a person skinnier, younger, and a number of other improvements.

The best mirror still doesn’t show the real person, however. Our hearts represent the true person we are on the inside. If we want to see our whole being the way the rest of the world does, we must peer inside our hearts and face what is there. We may be startled by what we see. We may have to squint to see anything good at all. Fortunately, we are works in progress. God works in us to gradually mold and shape each heart to one day perfectly reflect the image of Jesus Christ.

Your heart can reflect Christ.

Today, Lord, mold my heart to reflect more of the character of Christ.
