God’s Treasure Chest
God’s Treasure Chest
Read Proverbs 2
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
Proverbs 2:7
“Treasure.” What a “rich” word! It makes most folks daydream about pirates, dragons, or genies. Lost in thought, we imagine all we might do if we found a chest full of priceless gems and precious metals.
God offers treasure of a different kind. It is the richness of “common sense.” This kind of rare wisdom is not about IQ or intellect; no, it’s actually a moral matter of the heart. The idea here is “skill in living”—a treasure enjoyed only by the godly, by those who take God seriously in their daily lives. But not only that. Look closer at today’s proverb. Those who live consistent, morally upright lives receive another priceless benefit: They are protected. Almighty God acts as their shield.
The insight to know how to live in a perverse and confusing world and protection as you live for God—can you think of a more valuable find than this?
A WORD FOR TODAY
Wisdom is treasure.
Today, Lord, increase my hunger for the “common sense” that only you can give. Teach me how to walk with integrity.
