Read Proverbs 4

Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

Proverbs 4:7

We go to great lengths to “get” things. Some will arise early and drive all over town to find bargains and “get” great deals at garage or estate sales. Others work long hours to “get” a promotion or a big contract. Still others sweat and strain day after day to “get” in shape. More often than not, these determined efforts pay off.

According to today’s proverb, the wisest thing we can do is to “get” wisdom. And “get” this: The implication of this verse is that such wisdom is available not just to the smartest person or to the lucky person who “gets” all the breaks, but to the person who decides to go for it. In other words, a wise life begins with the decision, “I will do whatever it takes to ‘get’ godly insight.” You “get” wisdom when you make the choice to pursue it above all else.

Today, Lord, show me where my priorities are wrong. Bring wise people into my life so I can have role models to follow.
