Exposed!

Read Proverbs 20

The LORD’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.

Proverbs 20:27

There is a molecular universe that is unseen to the naked human eye. We’re talking small. Without the benefit of scientific instruments, it would be impossible to describe the appearance of an atom. We wouldn’t have a clue about the detail of a proton or neutron.

Likewise, there are components of the human spirit that have never been seen with the human eye. Does anyone other than our Creator know exactly what a motive looks like? Impossible! For motives are imbedded deep within our spirit, hidden behind good intentions and false pretenses. Only God can penetrate human defenses and expose a person’s wrong motive—hidden or otherwise. The bottom line of this proverb is this—we’re transparent. There’s no point in keeping things from God. There’s no sense in lying to him. With his penetrating gaze, he can see right through us. God has us all figured out.
