Don’t Quit!
Don’t Quit!
Read Proverbs 24
If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small.
Proverbs 24:10
Pouting. Stomping. Yelling. Screaming. Crying. Worrying. Dissolving. Escaping. Enduring. Isn’t it fascinating to watch the various ways people respond to adversity?
According to the Bible, trials are both normal and helpful. They enable us to develop godly character (Romans 5:3-4; James 1:2-4). Not only this, but the everyday pressures of stress, problems, and setbacks also reveal what we’re really made of.
Proverbs 24:5 suggests that it is wisdom that gives strength. Therefore, the implication of today’s proverb is that if we easily wilt when trouble comes, we must not be very wise.
What about you? Are you quick to wave the white flag when problems block your way? Do you quit at the first signs of stress? Don’t run from adversity! Refuse to succumb to a lifestyle of whining and complaining. Remember that God is using tough situations to make you like Christ (Romans 8:29). Then call upon God’s infinite power and wisdom (Ephesians 1:19-20).
A WORD FOR TODAY
Pressure brings out the worst and the best.
Today, Lord, grant me the wisdom to see your hand in my trials. I want to be strong. I want to persevere. Sustain me today with the confidence that you are in control.
