Read Proverbs 7

You’re the one I was looking for! I came out to find you, and here you are!

Proverbs 7:15

Some people stumble into temptation never realizing that “one thing can lead to another,” and suddenly they find themselves inappropriately involved with someone. Then, there are other people who most certainly do not stumble into sexual sin; indeed, they march purposely toward it, seek it out, and finally say, “You’re the one I was looking for!” In the movies or in novels, it can look romantic, even “destined to be,” but God knows it for what it is . . . and so should we.

We must not be naive about the world. In order to safeguard our own and others’ marriages, we must look out for those who would seek extramarital relationships, steering clear of them and any involvement with them. Those of us who are married must do whatever it takes to continually strengthen our marriages and our willpower.

We find what we’re really looking for.

Lord, you are such a good God for making marriage. Give me your wisdom and strength to recognize any challenge to my marriage or others’ marriages.
