Waiting For God
Waiting for God
O LORD, hear me as I pray;
pay attention to my groaning.
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God,
for I pray to no one but you.
Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD.
Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
Psalm 5:1-3
When our ship of life runs aground, we may feel as if God has deserted us. But God doesn’t hide from us; instead, it’s our selfishness that prevents us from recognizing him. If, in a moment of insight, we understand our predicament, we have God’s promise that he will hear us when we call on him.
When we are experiencing difficulties in this life, it’s certainly hard to wait on God. The Israelites, who were suffering under Roman rule, felt the same way. They couldn’t wait for their Savior. But after centuries of waiting, their hopes were fulfilled in the baby born in Bethlehem. God did send his Son to save the world; all they had to do was wait for his timing.
- Dear Lord, I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly for your answers . . .
