Singing Praises To Our God
Singing Praises to Our God
Sing praises to God, our strength.
Sing to the God of Jacob.
Sing! Beat the tambourine.
Play the sweet lyre and the harp.
Psalm 81:1-2
Almost any celebration—whether it’s an orchestrated wedding or a small gathering of friends—involves music. Music and song can express the emotions of the human heart as nothing else can. That’s why believers sing when they gather to worship God. Together in song, we remind ourselves of how majestic God is and express in harmonious melodies how happy we are to be his people. Psalm 81 calls God’s people to worshipful prayer by directing them to sing their praises to God. What a wonderful way to begin one’s own prayer time!
As you pray to God today, praise him for his strength. If you have access to hymnals, praise books, or recordings of worshipful songs, use these to help you wholeheartedly express your gratitude to God.
- O God our strength, I sing praises to you . . .
