Praying For Eyes To Be Opened

Praying for Eyes to Be Opened

Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

2 Kings 6:17-18

Elisha the prophet had a price on his head. The king of Aram was tired of the prophet warning the king of Israel every time he tried to set an ambush for the Israelites. So this king decided to go after Elisha. Elisha’s servant went out and saw all the enemy troops amassed against his master and began to despair. But Elisha prayed simply that the servant’s eyes would be opened. After God answered, Elisha asked God to blind the enemy. Again, God answered immediately and powerfully.

If you ever find yourself overwhelmed by the forces gathered against you, as Elisha’s servant was, pray for your own eyes to be opened. Ask God to show you how he is protecting you.

  • O Lord, open my eyes and let me see your protection . . .
