Praise For The God Who Hears

I love the LORD because he hears my voice

and my prayer for mercy.

Because he bends down to listen,

I will pray as long as I have breath!

Psalm 116:1-2

Children easily discern which adults are going to pay attention to them and who will likely “tune them out.” And when they do find someone who pays attention to them, often they are eager to interact with them. This prayer pictures God as one who “bends down to listen.” Like a caring father, he comes down to our level to let us know that we are heard, cared about, and valued. Like that discerning child, we should continue to come to God in prayer because he has proven to be trustworthy. He hears; but not only that, he answers, too, in his perfect timing and wisdom.

How the Lord deserves our adoration and trust! May God grant us eyes to see the trustworthiness of his character.
