Jesus’ Prayer For Our Protection

I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.

John 17:13-15

After their Last Supper together, Jesus was with his disciples in the upper room. Jesus knew that his time had come. So he prayed for his disciples and asked God the Father to protect them and keep them safe from Satan. Jesus also prayed for those “who will ever believe in me through their message” (v. 20). That includes us! Jesus, in the last few minutes before he faced his trial and death, prayed for his disciples’ protection—and also for ours! That should be a great comfort to us. It should free us from anxiety, uncertainty, and fear. After all, if God is for us, who can be against us?

Pray that God may protect you from those who want your demise. Ask the Lord to keep you from all evil. He will certainly answer your prayers.
