Awe For The Creator

Awe for the Creator

The LORD merely spoke,

and the heavens were created.

He breathed the word,

and all the stars were born.

He assigned the sea its boundaries

and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.

Let the whole world fear the LORD,

and let everyone stand in awe of him.

For when he spoke, the world began!

It appeared at his command.

Psalm 33:6-9

When was the last time you took time to admire God’s handiwork in nature? The brilliant stars hanging in the sky and the oceans crashing against the coastline give us reasons to stand in awe of God, the Creator of it all. God merely spoke, and these wonders came into being. At times, God’s creation—the vast universe populated by innumerable stars—makes us all feel so small and insignificant. How much more should we bow before the infinite God who can command the cosmos into existence or wipe it out in a moment!

Focus on some aspect of nature that inspires awe in you, whether it be a sparkling river, a peaceful lake, a spectacular skyline, or whatever. Then offer your praises to its great Creator.

  • Dear Lord, you merely spoke, and the heavens were created . . .
