Applauding God’s Goodness
Applauding God’s Goodness
Praise the LORD!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Who can list the glorious miracles of the LORD?
Who can ever praise him enough?
Psalm 106:1-2
There are times when we seek to offer praise and thanksgiving to God, but we find ourselves at a loss for words. The psalmist found himself in this situation: “Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord? Who can ever praise him enough?” In the light of God’s holiness and goodness, the psalmist recounted in this psalm all the times Israel had proven unworthy of the Lord’s love. But because of his goodness, God never utterly destroyed them. How could they ever praise God enough for what he had done for them?
As you ask God for mercy, remind yourself of one of the reasons God saves us—so that we can join the chorus of people continually praising his name and thanking him. Can we ever offer enough praises to God?
- O God, who can ever praise you enough? . . .
