A Prayer To Walk With God
A Prayer to Walk with God
I still belong to you;
you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever. . . .
But as for me, how good it is to be near God!
I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter,
and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.
Psalm 73:23-28
Sometimes people are so “in love” that they would readily proclaim they need nothing else as long as they have each other. How much more do those in an intimate relationship with God have everything they need? In this prayer, Asaph considered the blessings that were his because he walked with God. God was guiding him and leading him to a glorious destiny. Asaph even described the Lord as holding “my right hand.” To Asaph, the Lord was like a prized possession—more to be desired than anything on earth, outlasting even the breath of life itself.
Take a few moments in God’s presence to reflect on the priceless gift of your relationship with him. Tell him how and why you love him. Ask him to keep you always close by his side.
- O God, I desire you more than anything on earth . . .
