A Prayer For Resources

May the God of peace—

who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,

the great Shepherd of the sheep,

and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—

may he equip you with all you need

for doing his will.

May he produce in you,

through the power of Jesus Christ,

every good thing that is pleasing to him.

All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

Hebrews 13:20-21

In the Bible, God’s people are continually compared to a flock of sheep, which are wholly dependent upon the Shepherd’s leadership for food and protection. Although most of us now live and work in settings where individual achievement is prized, we should never imagine that we can be all the Lord wants us to be by “doing it alone.”

We belong to a people who have been brought into a covenant relationship with the Lord, and with one another, through the blood of Jesus. That is why the author of Hebrews wrote down his prayer for believers. He wanted all believers to join him in praying for the resources to do God’s work together.

Pray that God might equip you and the believers in your local church to accomplish God’s work together.
