A Prayer For Harmony In The Church

May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:5-6

Worshipping in a congregation whose members are excited about what God is doing is thrilling. Jesus told his disciples, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples” (John 13:35). In his letter to the Romans, Paul prayed that the believers in Rome would “live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.” Only when believers live that way will they “join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Think what an impact the church could have on a skeptical—but watching—world, if we could live in harmony as the Bible teaches. Pray for that type of harmony in your church community.
