Trust In The Lord

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6

PAUSE FOR A MOMENT AND REFLECT ON TODAY’S SCRIPTURE. What does it mean to “trust in the LORD with all your heart”? You’ve probably faced more than a few issues over the course of your life that seemed utterly hopeless until you turned them completely over to God. There’s a huge difference between simply acknowledging God and truly trusting in Him.

Not relying on our own understanding can be incredibly difficult sometimes because there seem to be no clear answers for some questions. Why does someone we love have a life-threatening illness like cancer? What about world peace or the economy? If we’re trying to figure it out on our own, we’re going to be out of luck. We need to trust someone much greater and wiser than ourselves.

All of life is meant to be lived with and for God. The way you treat the waitstaff at a restaurant reflects on God. The same goes for how you react when you get cut off in traffic or when your favorite sports team loses the big game. Think about Him in all your ways, not just during church activities.

God is always there for you. The road you’re called to walk may be difficult and lonely sometimes, but you have a sure guide who will help you overcome every obstacle—not because you’re perfect, but because He is. The way of trust is the only way to experience true joy and peace.

BOTTOM LINE

Proverbs 3:5-6 is a game plan for your everyday life. Are there areas of your life where you need to stop striving and start trusting?
