True Friends, Thick And Thin
True Friends, Thick And Thin
How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God’s presence.
1 Thessalonians 3:9
JOE AND RICK HAVE BEEN best friends since high school. They have laughed together more times than they can count, and Joe has been a rock of support for Rick when he really needed some help. As far as Rick is concerned, Joe is a lifelong, I’d-take-a-bullet-for-him kind of friend.
Another family, the Knights, took Rick in at a very difficult time in his life and gave him a place to stay for several months when he had no place else to turn. He became an unofficial Knight, complete with a Christmas stocking like the rest of the family! He will never forget their kindness.
God placed Joe and the Knights in Rick’s life for a reason. He knew exactly the kind of support Rick would need over the course of his life and when he would need it. Like the apostle Paul’s expression of gratitude for the church in Thessalonica in today’s verse, how could Rick ever thank God fully for these kinds of friends?
Take a moment to consider the folks who have crossed your path over the course of your life. You’ve probably formed incredibly strong bonds with at least a few of them. They’re not there by accident. They’ve been placed in your life by a kind and loving God who knows we need all the love and support we can get.
BOTTOM LINE
You probably have friends who will stick with you through thick and thin, no matter what. Take a moment to thank God for such a precious gift.
