LEARNING HOW TO MANAGE MONEY can be one of the biggest challenges we face as adults. Day after day, month after month, questions arise about how to be good stewards of what we have. We wonder how much money is enough, what our priorities should be, and how much we should give to the church.

Struggling to stay solvent can become a routine part of life. Pay a little bit extra on this bill this month, then some on the next one next month. There may be enough to cover everything for the time being, but not much left over. There are regular expenses that we can predict, but then there always seem to be unexpected costs that come up.

Cutting back does not necessarily mean having to cut certain things out entirely. The movie you once impulsively purchased on DVD for $20, you now watch on OnDemand for $4. You used to eat out all the time, with barely a second thought to the cost. Now, you savor a once-a-week opportunity for a night out with your family.

It’s all about being a good steward. There’s a big difference between living in extravagance and simple contentment, and an even bigger one between comfort and poverty. What many of us think of as hardship is a life of unimaginable luxury for millions around the world. Be wise with what you’ve been given, and be thankful for it!

Making ends meet can be hard, so pray for the wisdom to set your priorities correctly.
