How Busy Are You?
How Busy Are You?
You are worried and upset over all these details!
Luke 10:41
YOU KNOW ALL TOO WELL what it feels like to be up-to-your-eyeballs busy. You’re going a thousand miles an hour, but it all seems to be for the right reasons. You’re loaded up with responsibilities at work, with your family, and at church. It’s a lot to handle, so it’s easy to get frazzled. And how much of it truly matters in the long run?
Here’s a revolutionary thought: Your children may not need to play on three different sports teams at the same time! That’s not necessarily a bad thing, of course, but it may not be a good thing either. It’s okay to not be booked all the time. It’s wise to move at a more leisurely pace.
Jesus sat and talked while Martha scurried around her home, trying to make sure things were just right. Her sister, Mary, sat at the feet of Jesus and listened intently to what He had to say. When Martha complained that Mary wasn’t helping in the kitchen, Jesus responded that Mary had made the right choice. She was focused solely on Him, and Martha was not.
There are several accounts in the Gospels of times when Jesus slipped away from the crowds for some much-deserved peace and quiet. It’s okay to slow down once in a while so you can focus on the important things in life. With that in mind, what are some areas where you could possibly cut back? What would you have to do to carve out some healthy margin in your life?
