An Emissary Of God

An Emissary Of God

Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?

Isaiah 6:8

IT IS QUITE AMAZING THAT the all-powerful God of the universe, with legions of angels at His disposal, has chosen to use human beings as His ambassadors. Isaiah was just a guy—a mere man. Not unlike us. But he was summoned to the courts of heaven and received his appointment. No angel accepted the invitation, for it was not extended to them.

The Lord seeks men as His messengers. God is still posing the question, “Who will go for us?” It’s not that any of us are naturally qualified for the job; it’s that God’s calling makes us qualified. He is able to use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things in the world. In this, He is glorified.

For every man seeking a significant role in the world, “Ambassador for God” surely fills the bill. You do not have to relocate to a foreign land to be part of God’s mission. Indeed, missionaries such as the apostle Paul were rarities in the early church. A relative few were sent out. The normal practice was for believers to shine in the corner of the world where God had already placed them. Who will have the high honor to represent Jesus in your workplace, your neighborhood, your classroom, your club, or your gym? You are uniquely placed and qualified to show the love and grace of God in your sphere of influence. God can and will use you as you take up your commission.

BOTTOM LINE

The Lord has made you an ambassador for His Kingdom. See yourself as called and qualified.
