Who’s Your Lindsay?
Who’s Your Lindsay?
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
One of the biggest blessings the three of us have found through writing together is our connections with other women.
Our friend Lindsay is at the top of the list. She is kind and gracious, encouraging and generous. We first met her through a mutual acquaintance when she was just starting a clothing store for women in our community, and we attended an event held at her house. Since then, Lindsay has grown her shop (and her following), creating a space where women are encouraged, loved, and accepted.
When we asked her one summer day if we could host the launch party for our latest devotional at her store, White Peony Boutique, she gave us a resounding yes, without hesitation. Leading up to the event, she checked in with us, ensuring we had everything we needed.
As we pulled up to unload that cool November night, her mom, Jayne, met us at the door. “How can I help?” she asked, then took an armload of items to bring in. We spent the next hour moving things around and arranging an easy flow for guests to buy books and shop in the boutique. It was a lovely evening filled with friends and acquaintances, laughter and excitement.
I’m grateful for Lindsay, Jayne, and the other women who work at the boutique for making it all possible—effortlessly inviting people in and making them feel welcome. As we packed up to leave, I couldn’t stop smiling over the kindness and friendship found among such a wonderful group of women.
As much as we love writing, we love even more the community built by women who keep their circles open, love others well, and cheer each other on. And women like that? Truly, they are not hard to find (in the best of ways!). We’ve found them at church, in kids’ activities, and in our neighborhoods. Scripture encourages us to think of ways to encourage others to do acts of love. Surround yourself with people who are like this, and you’re sure to follow their example.
