Supportive Friendships
Supportive Friendships
We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
I’m part of a moms’ group in my community. Each month the leaders gather to plan out the details of the larger gathering, study the Bible together, and pray for one another. I am privileged to be able to lead this group’s Bible study portion each month and am always encouraged by the way that the women come together, share honestly, and support one another.
These women are real about their struggles and their joys; they cry with one another and cheer each other on. They listen well and seek to understand one another without judgment. They hold confidences while also committing to pray for one another. They leave each meeting knowing that they have been heard and affirmed, while also understanding that what has been shared will not leave that room. These are women of integrity, and I am honored to be a part of their fold. It is a gift, and I know not every woman is able to find friendships of this kind easily, since they can often take time to form.
God created us to be people in community, offering friendship and encouraging one another in our faith. Having friends like this will help us to grow in spiritual wisdom and understanding while helping us to live lives that produce every kind of good fruit because we will be spurred on in all that God has for us. Don’t miss this part of friendship—the support and accountability we can find with others who are pursuing all that God has for them.

If you are already in a support group, send a note thanking them. If you are desiring this type of accountability, ask God to send you someone you can start growing in your faith alongside.
