Wind Wisdom

WIND WISDOM

Read John 3:1-8.

“Look at the wind!” shouted Jade. “Trees are swaying, and branches are breaking off.”

“Wow! I’ve never seen such a strong wind!” said Oliver.

Dad joined them at the window. “You can’t really see wind,” he reminded them. “You only see what it does.”

“Like making that garbage can roll down the street,” remarked Jade.

Dad said, “Jesus compared the blowing of the wind to becoming a Christian. We can’t see wind. And we can’t see Jesus entering a person’s life because His Spirit is what comes in.”

Oliver looked at his sister. “That’s why Jade has a button nose and freckles just like before she invited Jesus into her heart at camp last July.”

Dad smiled. “We see what the wind does, though,” he said, “and we see what Jesus does. When He comes into a person’s life, He changes that person. A Christian wants to please the Lord and be obedient.”

Jade nodded. “I still do bad things, but I try not to,” she said. “When I do, I feel awful, and I ask Jesus to forgive me.”

“And I’ve noticed that you don’t get as mad when I tease you,” admitted Oliver.

Jade slipped her hand into her father’s. “I’m glad the wind doesn’t always blow this hard,” she said. “But I’m glad Jesus is always in my heart. Even though I can’t see Him, I know He’s always there to help me live as I should.”

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Does your life show that you are a Christian? Has there been any change since you invited Jesus to come in? If you haven’t invited Him in, talk to a Christian adult about doing it. Then ask God to help you live in such a way that those around you will see what He is doing for you.

TO MEMORIZE:

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
