Outgrown
OUTGROWN
Read Romans 11:33-36.
When Nico’s mother reminded him that he still hadn’t studied his Sunday school lesson, he looked up from his work on an airplane model. “Aw, Mom, I know all that stuff,” he argued. “I go to church and Sunday school and Bible club.” But when Mom gave him a stern look, he began working on his lesson.
The following morning Dad told Nico to get ready for church. Unwillingly, he went to his room to change, but in a few minutes was back again. “Look at this shirt!” he exclaimed. “The sleeves are short on me.”
Dad agreed. “We’ll have to buy you some new shirts this week.”
The next day Dad bought two new shirts. Nico tried one of them on that evening. “The sleeves are just the right length,” Dad said with a big smile. Then he became serious. “But, Son, you seem to think God is like your old shirt.”
“What?” Nico asked.
“Well, you’ve acted as if you’ve outgrown God. But it takes a lifetime to learn about God, and then you still know just a little about Him.”
Nico looked down at his new shirts. “I’ll try to remember that next Sunday when I’m wearing one of these shirts.”
Sure enough, the next week as he thought about the words of the songs and listened to his Sunday school teacher, he heard several things he hadn’t known before. I’m glad I’ll never outgrow God like I did my old shirt, he thought.

Do you think that you’ve heard all the Bible stories before? Although it may seem that you know everything, you’ll always be able to discover new things about God and His ways. You can never outgrow God.

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!
