No Room
NO ROOM
Read Matthew 7:21-27.
“Are we almost there? It’s been such a long ride!” exclaimed Jessica. She and her sister, Kelley, could hardly wait to get to Sea World and the hotel.
“Two whole days in a hotel with a pool!” Kelley giggled.
“We’re here, girls,” announced Dad. He turned the car toward the hotel.
Inside, Dad approached the desk. “My last name is Gardiner,” he said. “We have reservations.”
The receptionist checked the computer. “I’m sorry,” she said uncertainly. “I can’t find your name here.”
“Please look again,” Dad said. After another search, the receptionist shook her head slowly. “Well, do you have a room with two double beds?” asked Dad.
“No, I don’t. I’m really sorry,” the lady replied. “There’s a convention in town, and all the hotels are full.”
“It would be awful to go back home now,” wailed Jessica.
Dad nodded. “There’s been a mistake,” he said, “but don’t fret. Let’s go have some ice cream while we think about what to do next.”
Seated in the restaurant, Dad said, “If this seems bad, think how it would be if we should arrive in heaven someday and discover that our names have never been registered there.”
“But, Dad,” Jessica said thoughtfully, “that won’t happen. The Bible says Jesus has gone ahead of us and has already written the names of those who love Him.”
“You’re absolutely right,” said Dad with a smile.
