Foolish Pigs And People

FOOLISH PIGS AND PEOPLE

Read Matthew 7:24-27.

Stacy climbed into the car after Sunday school, eager to share her lesson with her family. “My teacher talked about the three little pigs today,” she said.

Matt scowled. “Yeah, right.”

“She did,” insisted Stacy. “She said the Bible tells us about a builder who was even more foolish than the first two little pigs. Bet you don’t know who it was.” Matt thought for a few minutes before giving up. “It was the person who built a house on the sand,” Stacy said. “When the storms came, the house fell down.”

“Well, I don’t see how that builder was more foolish than the little pigs. Their houses fell too,” argued Matt.

Stacy couldn’t think of an answer for a moment. “Well, the builder was more foolish because that person was a human being, not just a pig,” she decided. “The wolf ate the pigs and that was the end of them. But the person who built on the sand is like all people who don’t obey Jesus and don’t accept Him as Savior. They don’t go to heaven—so they’re lost forever.”

Matt had to admit that this was worse than what happened to the pigs.

“Now tell us the good part of the story,” suggested Dad.

“Another person—a wise person—built a house on the rock,” said Stacy. “It stood through even the worst storms. That builder is like people who hear and believe what Jesus says. They accept Him as Savior, so they live forever in heaven.”

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Where are you building—on the sand or on the Rock, Jesus Christ? All the good things you do won’t last unless you are building your life on the right foundation—unless you’ve accepted Jesus as your Savior.

TO MEMORIZE:

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.
