Read Psalm 100.
“I pray today,” announced little Cody as the family sat around the breakfast table. Dad smiled at his young son, and they all bowed their heads. “Thank you, God, for Krispy Flakes an’ milk an’ juice an’ toast,” said Cody. He paused and peeked to see what else was on the table. “An’ jam,” he added. “Amen.”
After breakfast everyone began doing weekend chores. When it was time for lunch, Mom had everyone gather around the dining room table. “We’ll pray,” she said. “Then you can sit and relax while your father and I fix burgers and get the rest of the food ready.”
“I pray,” said Cody again. Once more they all bowed their heads. “Thank you for . . .” Cody paused as he looked at the table, which had no food on it yet. “For plates an’ knives an’ forks an’ spoons an’ cups an’ napkins an’ salt. Amen.”
Jessie and Suzanne giggled. But Mom said to Cody, “I’m glad you thanked God for all those things,” she said. “We often forget them.”
“That’s right,” agreed Dad as he got up. “Now, you’ve all been extra busy, so your mom and I will get the food. But you can think of other things we should remember to thank the Lord for but rarely do. You go first, Jessie.”
“Uh . . .” murmured Jessie, “we should be thankful for our grill.”
“Good,” said Dad. “Suzanne?”
Suzanne was ready. “For pepper—Cody forgot that.”
“And for the table,” said Jessie.
“And chairs.”
“And for a little child to teach us,” added Mom with a smile.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Are you really thankful for everything? Look around you. How many things can you find that you never thank the Lord for? Take a few moments to thank Him right now.

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High.
