Psalm 150

1Praise the LORD!

Praise God in his heavenly dwelling;

praise him in his mighty heaven!

2Praise him for his mighty works;

praise his unequaled greatness!

3Praise him with a blast of the trumpet;

praise him with the lyre and harp!

4Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;

praise him with stringed instruments and flutes!

5Praise him with a clash of cymbals;

praise him with loud clanging cymbals.

6Let everything that lives sing praises to the LORD!

F. W. Boreham once wrote: “God said, ‘Let there be light!’ And there was light. He had no need to say, ‘Let there be song!’ because He was; and since He was, the morning stars sang together. Whenever and wherever created things have stood face-to-face with their Creator, they have burst into song.”

In the Reformation of the early 1500s, when Martin Luther showed people that they could come before their Creator without fear, there was music. Luther later wrote more than thirty hymns and once said, “The Devil is the originator of sorrowful anxieties and restless troubles; he flees before the sound of music.”

In the Methodist Revival of the early 1700s, when John and Charles Wesley urged people to honor their Creator with their life and heart, there was music. Charles Wesley wrote more than five thousand hymns.

At the dawn of creation the morning stars sang together (Job 38:7). And when we all get to heaven and see our Lord face-to-face, there will be songs of victory there: “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice and honor him” (Revelation 19:6-7).

Why don’t you join the choir now and start practicing? Not necessarily your church choir, but the heavenly choir. Use all the instruments—your smile, your encouraging words, your obedient life—to make music for your Creator.
