Tongue-tied - A Child’s Prayer For Morning

Tongue-Tied - A Child’s Prayer for Morning

Now, before I run and play,

Let me not forget to pray.

To God who kept me through the night

And waked me with the morning light.

Help me, Lord, to love thee more

Than ever I have loved before.

In my work and in my play,

Be thou with me through the day. Amen.

LIFE IS HARD. Sometimes stupid hard. So why do we try to take it on alone?

I wish I had a nickel for every time I ran out the door for work, stressed out with the problems of yesterday following me into my workday today.

I wish I had a nickel for every time I drove to the grocery store, mind racing with more to-do’s than any person could humanly accomplish in one day.

I wish I had a nickel for every time I sat at my keyboard, vapor-locked as to what words or thoughts would be meaningful to my readers.

I wish I had a C-note for every time I stopped putting on my makeup to approach God to help me manage my stress.

I wish I had a C-note for every time I stopped making my to-do list and replaced it with a thankful list.

I wish I had a C-note for every time I bowed my head, asking that God provide divine wisdom and for the words I speak not to be mine, but his.

But instead, I will replace my wishes with a prayer:

Father, I ask your blessing on my mind to keep my thoughts clear.

I ask that you bless my heart to keep my motives pure.

May my thoughts be your thoughts; may I only desire to do your will; and may you bless me this day with your mercy.

In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

I love you LORD; you are my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. (Psalm 18:1-2)

Be thou with me through the day. . . .
