Our Secret Sauce, His Recipe
Our Secret Sauce, His Recipe
AT THE END of this section, I invite you to do something a bit different. If you’re married, you might ask your husband to read the entries on Steve’s contributions to our secret sauce and then pray about how God might have him love his family even better. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to let him know that you are praying that God will help you love and honor him better too.
Father God, may I come before you today asking that you bless my marriage by helping me to
support and celebrate my wife’s success, not only in our home but in her professional life;
remember to help with the dishes. I understand, God, that great sex usually starts outside the bedroom and, Lord, I really do want to be helpful;
understand that, as the momma bear, my wife may go to extremes to help or save our children;
embrace our differences, rather than try to change her into someone else;
remember to look at her, value her, and compliment her with kind words;
prioritize my relationship with you above all else.
Actions I will take:
Example: I will take over kitchen duty on Monday and Friday nights, and Wednesday nights will be my night to help the kids with their homework.
Father, I thank you today for my wife. You have given me a precious gift, and I praise you for allowing me to spend my life with her. Take control of my will, Lord, that I might be the husband to her that you want me to be. Give me patience, determination, and, Lord, enable me to be what she most needs me to be. Amen.
